Fresh and Clean Media - the bands L.A. based management company, set up by long-time Manager Shelby Meade (formerly with Nasty Little Man PR). Capitol Records - the label behind the band, whose site offers a bare-bones discography and not much else. Rykodisc - George Howard developed Slow River Records to "discover and promote interesting music", which in 1995 included an interesting new band called Sparklehorse among its discoveries. Released the earlier vinyl and the 'Chords I've Known' EP. Slow River seems to have all but disappeared after Howard became president of Rykodisc, which doesn't seem to have any Sparklehorse info on its site. Devil in the Woods - Californian vinyl label which released the LP of 'It's a Wonderful Life', as well as that seven inch with the only recording of the song 'Shade and Honey'. Gammon Records - released the Daniel Johnston and Mark Linkous Collaborations. Their website is kept fresh with news updates, mp3 samples, and gift shop. |

Vic Chesnutt - Wolfeye's essential resource for all Chesnutt enthusiasts. Vic left a message for Mark one time, which you can hear at the end of 'Sunshine'. Recorded with Mark and a few others as 'A Loose Confederation of Saturday City States'.
The Cardigans - Swedish pop-metallers who's Nina Persson appears on the third album. Tom Waits - mentor, contributor, composer, actor, and the original gangster of musical innovation. Co-wrote 'Dog Door', and plays piano on 'Morning Hollow'. Smog - who is also known as Bill Callahan. One of Mark's favourite musicians, especially the 'Red Apple Falls' album. Cat Power - the other of Mark's favourite musicians. Will Oldham - aka Palace, Palace Brothers, Bonnie Prince Billy. Another admired musician. Has been invited to do some recording in the Static King. Grandaddy - quite possibly kindred spirits. Singer Jason Lytle contributed one of the films to the 'It's a Wonderful Life' project. Guided By Voices - another of Mark's favourite bands. Has covered 'Smothered in Hugs' on tour. Portishead - John Parish ran into guitarist Adrian Utley down the pub one night and told him Mark was looking for some Portishead personnel to play on 'It's a Wonderful Life'. And so it came to pass that he did. John Parish - legendary guitarist who did what he does best on 'It's a Wonderful Life'. Polly Jean Harvey - English chanteuse who sung on a few tracks on the third LP. |
